In the face of the overseas situation of the novel coronavirus epidemic, POWERCHINA went all-out to do a great job in prevention and control of the outbreak, ensuring the health and safety of its employees and the smooth and orderly operations of its overseas projects, a company spokesman said.

On March 3, POWERCHINA's regional headquarters in the Americas held a special video conference, stressing the importance of overseas epidemic prevention and control and putting forward requirements for internal departments and representative agencies in various countries.

In Turkey, the regional headquarters in Eurasia also held an emergency meeting to deploy epidemic prevention and control work. This was in order to raise the awareness of Chinese and overseas employees there about a possible epidemic in Turkey.

Over in Africa, since the epidemic outbreak, the Angolan representative office has actively adopted various effective measures to ensure the health and life safety of employees of member companies in Angola.

The POWERCHINA spokesman said that over in Southeast Asia, the Laos representative office has communicated closely with member companies and project departments, sharing information on the outbreak situation and the source of procurements of epidemic prevention materials.

Italian Geodata Co is a subsidiary of POWERCHINA located in the city of Turin in Italy, which is in an area severely hit by the epidemic. The spokesman said the company immediately organized an emergency meeting. It analyzed the challenges to be faced by the epidemic prevention work, clarifying the company's measures in prevention and control.

The management also carried out multi-level and multiple guidance and communications and publicized the relevant scientific knowledge and the Chinese experience in epidemic prevention.

Meanwhile, the Singapore representative office organized project departments to purchase masks and disinfectants for employees. Each project department must update and report on project prevention measures and the control situation.

At present, there are no confirmed cases among Chinese personnel at POWERCHINA international projects, as well as among overseas personnel.

Since February, POWERCHINA has signed 36 new projects in Qatar, Tanzania, Bangladesh, Colombia, Guinea-Bissau and Suriname, with plans to resume work and production to promote the continued development of its international business.

The company spokesman said that for now, POWERCHINA has established a two-level joint prevention and control mechanism at home and abroad to dynamically monitor the epidemic prevention and construction progress of international projects.

Meanwhile, it is paying close attention to family members of overseas employees and has helped them solve urgent problems in a timely manner.
